For four decades Wolfworks projects have been designed by Jamie Wolf. In September of 2021 Jamie welcomed architect Kyle Cruz to Wolfworks and thus began a design partnership that has them both energized and inspired to build on the legacy of that work. This design collaboration expands our capacity and has resulted in a positive synergy as we combine our talents.
Kyle grew up in Burlington and, before joining us designed and built a home there for his family, just over the border from Collinsville. Kyle got his architectural education at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston and after graduating, spent nine years working at Amenta/Emma, an established firm in Hartford. While there he headed up working groups related to Sustainability, Quality of Documents, and Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI).
Beyond being aligned with our mission to be leaders in building sustainably, what attracted Kyle to joining us here was an interest in designers and builders working together as one on projects at the residential scale. What that means is that, beyond design, he is collaborating with Janet and our trade partners on every project. He is fully engaged and ably serving clients at every stage of our process, from initial contact thru to project completion.
Working together he and Jamie developed a new Feasibility and Orientation phase of our design service. It intends to equip people considering building a new home or remodeling an existing one to make smart choices about how to proceed. It incorporates the Project Snapshot service that Jamie had been providing with a look under the hood at all the phases of the design and construction process and the systems we’ve designed to support that journey from beginning to end. Folks are finding it to be a valuable way to get their bearings before plunging into the project itself.
On the horizon is an ownership transition which will begin with Kyle, Janet, and Jamie becoming shared owners of the company. In that role Kyle is taking on additional management responsibilities developing the company and its capacities. His devotion to collaborative relationships, disciplined business practices, and strong architectural design all done with a smile and deserved self confidence make Wolfworks a fun place to share with him.
